What's it going to be doing soon?

More applications for Morrowind are planned such as adding additional elemental monitoring parameters to the G-Link (wind & static electricity for air & lightening alignments etc.) and hardware attachments such as a "whack a mole" style device that would reward the user with accuracy bonuses for successful completion of physical challenges.

However, the main areas of expansion are into the true social & constructive games such as Animal Crossing & Harvest Moon. Tom Betts (check out his site- Null Pointer) has been a major source of great ideas & inspiration on this front and he likes the potential of reversing the flow of data through the device.

For example- say you're playing something like Animal Crossing and you find a seed that you'd like to grow into a plant. You connect the G-Link to the game, download the seed onto it and make sure to expose the G-Link to plenty of sunlight. A few hours later you upload the seed from the G-Link back into the game and hey presto!, the seed has sprouted to become a plant.

You get the idea anyway and the possibilities are pretty much endless- every item in game could be changed by downloading it onto the G-Link and altering it using real world interactions. If you have a pet dog in the game then you could download it to the G-Link and literally bring it for a walk to keep it keep it fit & healthy. Maybe you want to hatch a chick from an egg by keeping it warm for a day or two. Maybe you have to water your crops but you're running low on water so you'll just have to stand outside in the rain under an umbrella to gather water.

The other advantage of these types of games is the dual use that the environmental data can have- maybe if you're experiencing drought in your game you'd have to get exposed to lots of wet weather in the real world before downloading this weather into the game to relieve the drought. Maybe it's a snowy winter’s day and you've just been out for a walk with the device- you turn on your game and whaddya know- it's suddenly been snowing there aswell!

The hardware required to realise all of the ideas mentioned is this section currently exists in the G-Link prototype- only the game software needs development.
